SPRING IN THE GARDEN

The season your garden comes alive.

Fresh growth, thoughtful care and outdoor spaces ready to be enjoyed.

Spring has arrived, bringing longer days, fresh growth and the promise of more time outdoors. After a wet Melbourne winter, now is the moment to help gardens recover, refresh tired areas and prepare for the warmer months ahead.

In this issue, we share the practical jobs that matter now, planting ideas for a fresh spring lift and a reminder to plan early if you are considering a larger garden transformation.

WHAT TO DO NOW

Your spring to-do list.

01

Tidy, prune & reset.

Remove winter damage, shape hedges and cut back spent growth so healthy new shoots have room to flourish.

02

Feed for fresh growth.

Apply a quality slow-release fertiliser and refresh mulch to support strong growth while helping the soil retain moisture.

03

Check irrigation.

Test every zone now, clear blocked nozzles and adjust run times before warmer weather increases demand.

04

Bring lawns back.

Repair bare areas, aerate compacted soil and feed tired turf to encourage dense, even growth.

05

Plant for colour.

Use layered combinations of foliage, flowers and grasses for colour that feels considered rather than crowded.

The best spring gardens start with thoughtful preparation.

FEATURED LANDSCAPE PROJECT

Carnegie

Landscape construction for homes built with hebel is always a challenge due to warranty issues. One of the main chalenges here was to provide a shade pavillion across the rear of the building without any reliance on the home itself for support. This had all sorts of implications for traffic flow and maintaining the light and airy feel of the space.

Draped with ornamental grape vines, the use of Castlemaine slate throughout and those beautfully detailled mitred stone edges all tie the project together.
